2020 Interior Trends

Give your home an update for 2020

With 2020 fast approaching, it’s time to get ahead of the game and revamp your home with a fresh look for the New Year. If you’re trying to figure out what to do with your home over the next couple of months, we have pulled together some key interior trends that we have seen become increasingly popular and are set to take centre stage throughout 2020.

Classic Blue

If you haven’t noticed yet, you’re about to - blue is everywhere! And with Pantone announcing Classic Blue as its Colour of the Year for 2020, we can only see this timeless shade sticking around for quite a bit longer. A reflective and nostalgic shade, this soothing hue exudes calm and connection to nature as well as being a beautiful colour to look at.

If you are looking to incorporate this enriching shade into your home but do not want to go overboard, there are many ways to do so. In the living room you can simply give the space a dramatic refresh by incorporating an attractive blue sofa, armchair or even artwork. Create a comfortable, yet welcoming feel by neutralising the cold blue tone with warm light by adding in a striking table lamp or ceiling chandelier.

Industrial Revolution

The industrial style – often referred to as ‘industrial chic’ is becoming ever more popular. The key characteristics for this style of interior is all about, raw, exposed and unfinished décor. Rather than incorporating an eccentric colour palette, most industrial styled interiors tend to centre on a neutral, more subdued background.

We recommend incorporating greys, browns, beiges and black to really reflect the feel of the architecture, however, there is nothing wrong with decorating your space with more standout colour too. Rather than splashing out in the main areas of your home with big bursts of colour, it is more beneficial to accentuate the interior with decorative elements such as a colourful sofa or lively wall art.

Minimalist Schemes

Understated and pared back, minimalistic interiors are an aesthetically pleasing décor choice. This scheme can be incorporated into homes of all styles and sizes. Whether it’s Japanese, modern, traditional or Scandinavian, there are many ways to achieve this sought-after look and it doesn’t even require too much effort.

Think clean, modern lines, a concise colour palette and pared down silhouettes, less is more and neutral colours allow your gleaming furnishings and accessories to shine through, giving your home a striking, yet understated appeal that is easy on the eye.  If you’re not looking to go overboard, remove unnecessary chairs and declutter your coffee table – it really is about enhancing the sense of space and embracing open surroundings.

Earthy Colours

Calm and collected, earthy interiors are one of the most popular home design trends around and they won’t be going out of fashion anytime soon. Bringing the outdoors in, an earthy colour palette is comprised of warm browns, camel greens, soft greys and tan tones, all of these rich hues can be easily blended together to form a harmonious and welcoming interior.

Whether you are redecorating a modern or traditional interior, you can create this naturally appealing look through a mixture of earthen tones and a variety of textures. Opt for exposed brick walls, textured wood flooring, botanical elements and accessories made from organic materials to finish off your overall scheme. Look to artisan crafted furniture for a rustic finish, or antique wooden furnishings to bring back the nostalgia of the early mid-century home. This style décor is so simple to obtain and can be achieved within all types of homes.

Eco-friendly Living

Over the past couple of years, lots of interior brands have gone into an eco-friendly frenzy, influencing us to incorporate some elements of sustainability into our homes. If you’re looking for ways to become more environmentally friendly, there are ways to do this with ease. Starting with plants, these natural creations are the perfect eco-friendly addition to the home, they are kind to the environment, smell amazing and transform interiors with a refreshing appeal, they’re also naturally beautiful and offer a sense of freshness and clarity – bringing the outdoors in.

Another way of achieving a sustainable interior is by looking into how brands manufacture their products, purchasing those made from materials such as organic cotton, bamboo, hemp and cashmere are the perfect choices. There are endless homeware designs that are made up of these materials, which offer the perfect sustainable finish to your home.

Art DÉco Reimagined

Immerse yourself in the glamour of Art Déco in 2020 with geometric and angular shapes. The Art Déco look began in Paris in the early 20th century and continues to be a popular interiors trend across the globe. To achieve this look it’s all about incorporating neutral dark tones with dark glossy finishes in bold colours and patterns, you can then accessorise them with satin cushions and faux fur throws for a statement finish.

Create the perfect look by pairing angular furniture with rounded upholstered chairs and sofas, which achieves a beautifully sumptuous and comfortable look. Curvaceous designs in a plush pastel colour palette are perfect for Art Déco inspired settings.
